Accessibility statement

Our aim

This site should be usable by everyone, including people using screen readers, keyboard navigation, magnification or captions. We work towards the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA as the practical standard.

That is a target we design against rather than a certification we claim. Parts of any site drift out of conformance over time, and we would rather say that plainly than publish a statement implying otherwise.

What we have done

Pages are built with structured headings so they can be navigated by assistive technology. Images carry descriptive alternative text. Interactive elements are reachable and operable by keyboard. Colour is not used as the only means of conveying information, and text contrast is checked against the AA thresholds.

Content is written in plain language wherever the subject allows it. Where a regulatory term has no plain equivalent, it is defined rather than assumed.

Known limitations

Documents and forms provided by third-party services embedded in this site may not meet the same standard, because we do not control their markup. Where that prevents you from completing something, the same task can always be completed by telephone or email.

Some older content may not yet meet the standard we now build to. We correct these as we find them and as they are reported.

Telling us about a problem

If any part of this site prevents you from doing something, tell us and we will fix it or give you another way to get it done. Email or call using the details below.

Please include the page address and a short description of what happened. We aim to acknowledge reports within a few business days and to explain what we intend to do about them.

Getting help another way

No part of our service depends on using this website. Quotes, entry reviews, urgent assistance and every other enquiry can be handled by telephone or email, and nothing about the outcome differs.
